Lufthansa Business Class Review

I recently flew Lufthansa business class on my journey back to the US and went in with no expectations. Unfortunately the whole experience was pretty disappointing. Let's get into the review!

Honestly, there were more cons than pros on this flight but flying in business class is still a luxury compared to economy, so I'm grateful for that.

How I Booked My Lufthansa Business Class Ticket

I booked my Lufthansa business class ticket 2 weeks before departure for 63,000 Avianca Lifemiles + $179.95 in taxes and fees. The entire itinerary was

Lufthansa Business Class Seats

Lufthansa's A330 uses a 2-2-2 configuration in business class which is unfortunate because only half the seats have direct aisle access. The cabin decor was tired and outdated and extremely uncompetitive when compared to Turkish Airlines gorgeous business class cabin. You could really see the age of the plane and the seats were quite dirty. However, I found the seats to be pretty comfy and I liked that you could adjust individual parts of the seat to get a customized seat position.

I chose the window bulkhead seat 1K hoping there would be extra footwell space but only the surface on top of the TV had extra space. There's really no advantage to picking a seat in row 1.

The headphones are stored in cubby inside one of the seat rests and this area was super gross and looked unsanitary. I'd recommend wiping everything down with a wet wipe if you have one.

The entertainment system was adequate. I thought it was interesting that the remote uses a mini trackpad. It wasn't the most intuitive to use but got the job done. I felt the movie selection was decent too. The TV screen is not HD and looks old like the rest of the plane.

There were no pajamas or amenity kits given out on this flight. Wi-Fi is not complementary either.

The dining service began with a pre-departure drink. I could choose from sparkling wine, orange juice, or water.

After taking our orders, the flight attendant actually brought me the wrong appetizer. Then 2 minutes later he realized it was wrong, apologized, and then brought me the correct appetizer I ordered.

The appetizer was fine but the main entree was not good. The veal had no flavor and the polenta was way too salty.

For the refeshment service, I ordered the ravioli and was pleasantly surprised the flight attendant came around with a bread basket with assorted breads. The ravioli was pretty standard and nothing to write home about but I enjoyed the pretzel.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Lufthansa business class is a comfortable but very forgettable experience. The hard product is uncompetitve when compared to other European carriers and the soft product was nothing special. I would fly Lufthansa business class again if it was the most direct route but would much rather fly other airlines if possible.
